Facebook verifies John Dumelo and fake Jackie Appiah fan page

Actor, John Dumelo who currently has over 1.5 million fans (likes) on facebook was recently verified by the social media giants. The verification process is a means of assuring facebook users of the veracity of pages for public figures, brands etc on facebook.  John, who has been linked to the fraudulent activities of people pretending to be him on facebook and other social media platforms, was excited by the verification on facebook – he posted on instagram “Verified on Facebook ……#toGodbetheGlory#wetakingover#1.5mlikes“.  Meanwhile, as John is happy about his verification on Facebook, actress Jackie Appiah isn’t entirely  happy with hers, because she is not the one behind her facebook page.  The administrator for the verified Jackie Appiah page wrote: “We have been Verified by Facebook. Thanks to all the amazing fans on this page. This would not have happened without you.”
But according to Jackie, the page is not run by her or her management. She revealed to me that the page is run by a certain Indian man who once approached the actress in town to let her know he was the one administering the fan page. The man even gave his details to Jackie for further correspondence, but the actress misplaced the contact and currently has no means of reaching him. Jackie said she is lucky that the man behind the page is a good person, a true fan who has not used the page for any scandalous activity.
