News of the kidnapping of nearly 300 Nigerian school girls by Islamic extremists has swept the world and inspired outrage, as well as sympathy for the families of the girls.
The kidnappers, a group called Boko Haram, meaning “Western education is sinful,” say they will sell the girls into marriages for $12. Currently, world leaders and humanitarian organizations are working to help the Nigerian government track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims.
Many people have spoken out on behalf of the kidnapped Nigerian students in the last few weeks. However, some of the most powerful examples of solidarity come from girls across the globe letting their voices be heard and speaking out for their fellow young women.
